The Fund raiser was a great success.  Heart to Heart thanks all those who helped our "Stop Abuse" fund raiser for the month of April.  Once again, the community came forward and supported Heart to Heart to help raise funds for our Art Therapy program.

A Brand new vending machine was donated by a bulk vendor and friend of Heart to Heart from Houston, Texas.  He knows how important raising funds for the Center is.  Through his generosity, more money can be raised to help the children of our community.  He prefers to remain anonymous, but has donated before to the Center and is very supportive on Heart to Heart's mission.

Another bulk vendor out of Kentucky also has been supporting Heart to Heart by providing a percentage of what he sells on Ebay through a program called Mission Fish.  If you are an Ebay seller, perhaps you too would like to donate a portion of your sale to Heart to Heart.  Simply follow the easy instructions on Ebay and look up Heart to Heart Child Advocacy Center in the Non profit section.  Heart to Heart currently has seen three individual providing funding to Heart to Heart through the Ebay sales.

Murder Mystery Dinner
May 3rd, 2008 at 6:30 PM
VFW 1610 S.E. 3rd, Newton

You are invited to one of Harold Logan's (in) famous luaus.  Get ready to party on, but know this: Trouble is brewing for Mr. Logan.  Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to solve a murder (or two).  We want you to be fully involved in the experience so please come in Hawaiian costume and in character, perhaps you are a world renowned hula dancer?  It's optional of course but it will enhance your whole experience.  Use you imagination and get ready to have fun!!  Program starts at 6:30 PM, meet your primary suspects.  Get into detective mode as you have a cocktail (cash bar), or not, and enjoy the appetizers.  Be prepared, anything can happen at any time.

UPDATE
If you didn't make it to the VFW for this one, make sure to get there next year.  The place was packed, the food was great and the acting was nothing short of spectacular.  Best part of all, Heart to Heart raised the most amount of money it ever has in a single fund raiser. There have been many requests for another program, plans are in the works and a mystery is being sought.
Thank you everyone for being in the play, helping with the play and coming to the play.

Tricia Wells, owner of the Sports Grill & Bar, presents Karen Walton with cash raised during sales from promotional items during the New Year Eve celebration.  Tricia has continued to support Heart to Heart over the years and has become a great friend of Heart to Heart.

There is a new restaurant in town, Napoli's Italian Restaurant, 1607 N. Main, 283-8800.  Cousins Nick and Adriano Ronadonni have brought real Italian food to the Newton area.  It didn't take them long to see how important it was for them to support the community through the Heart to Heart Child Advocacy Center.  When you dine at Napoli's, don't forget to slip a quarter or two into the spiral gumball machine.  Thank you Napoli's for helping us out in our vending fund raiser and bringing change to Heart to Heart.

The Great folks working at the Shell Station, 3524 S. Duncan, Newton
helped out Heart to Heart by allowing a rack of machines to be placed at their business.  They helped Heart to Heart provide a location for one of the racks that had been at the Wild West Theme Park.  Stop by, and say hello to these Heart to Heart supporters.  Throw a few quarters in the machines and know that your change does make a change.

Play-Mor Lanes of 1205 Washington Road, Newton, has stepped up to help Heart to Heart find a place for the many racks that were at the Wild West Theme Park.  As Mr. Ashcraft said " we are happy to help support a program such as this".  Heart to Heart is glad to have Play-Mor lanes as a member of the Heart to Heart vending fundraiser program.

Subway restaurants of Harvey and McPherson County are supporting Heart to Heart Child advocacy Centers.  Our heart felt thanks goes out to Bev Donker, manager of Subway on S. Main in Newton, District manager, Levi Julian and Owners Rottinghaus Inc. for allowing us to place donation boxes in the Subway restaurants.  You will see our donation boxes  at Bev's store, and the stores at 1715 N. Main, Newton, 2204 E. Kansas, McPherson and 205 S. Centennial, McPherson.

If your business would like to take part in our donation box fund raiser, please contact Karen at the Newton Heart to Heart Office.  We will put your name on the box and place your business on our web page and quarterly newsletter.  What a great way to help Heart to Heart and to show how your business is concerned about the children of our community

The taste of Newtonis a great time to be down town.  All kinds of foods take over down town Newton.  More food then you can imagine.  You'll probably bump into people you haven't seen in a long time.  Chat a little, eat a little and then eat some more.  One booth that has been at the Tasteof Newton, for a number of years, is the booth of Heart to Heart.  Unbelievable cheesecake.  We have been told it is so good  that New York has nothing over us.  "Cheesecake to die for".  Each cheesecake is fresh and made from a secret family recipe (and that family just so happens to have roots in New York City, go figure).  Look for the white tent with Heart to Heart on it.  Got to get there early if you want to get some of this wonderful taste treat.  Heart to Heart has been known to sell out in less then two hours.  Come to the Taste of Newton, Oct 4th, bring your appetite.  Feeding begins at 6:00 PM.  We'll have a gumball machine there also.  What good be better, cheesecake and gumballs.

Thanks to "Fun Foods and Office Supply" Heart to Heart has a new fund raiser.  Snow Cones
This year Heart to Heart set up on the corner of 3rd and Main with the help and support of the Ryans from "Those Blasted Signs".  The Newton Fire Department supplied us with all the ice we could shave and a number of the Newton High School Leadership program students supplied all the hard labor.
Bryan Kristenson of "Fun Foods Office Supply" provided the snow cone machine, syrups, and snow cone cups.
Look for us again next year, stop by our tent and treat yourself to a nice cold

Heart to Heart Pin sale fund raiser

Show your support not only of Heart to Heart, but for caring about children.  Every Pin sold adds needed funding to Heart to Heart.  Pins are available for purchase at Newell's Truck Stop, at Heart to Heart, or by sending a check to Heart to Heart, 201 E. 6th, Newton, Kansas 67114.  Tell us how many pins you would like and what kind of pins you want to order.  For more information you can call Karen at 316-772-2140 or email her at kwalton43@yahoo.com

It was the great down town Newton Chili Cook Off.  The event was a fund raiser for the Harvey County United way.  Non-Profits were asked to bring there best brew of chili and compete in the cook off.  Heart to Heart was there.  Jodie Beeson provided Heart to Heart with her special chili.  Karen served it up and a load of folks stopped by to sample the goods.  If you missed this event this year, then watch for it again next year.  It was lots of fun and raised some money for the Harvey County United Way.

Heart to Heart Child Advocacy Center

Heart to Heart provides a safe, child friendly environment where the child victim is listened to, respected and can tell their experience to trained forensic professionals. Children and their non-offending family members are referred for counseling and prepared for the criminal justice process. The goal of Heart to Heart is to promote emotional healing so victims and non-offending family members can lead healthy and productive lives. The CAC does not charge for any interviews or any other services we provide. We are funded by grants, fund raising events and the kindness of individuals and the business community. Your donation can help ensure these services continue to be available to child victims. Heart to Heart works to help child victims of abuse become children again.
